Day 03

Today we were heading to Antibes and Nice. I had only gone one time with my family the summer prior. I was more excited for Antibes because it absolutely feels so peaceful to me. As soon as we got off the train, I fell in love all over again. The ships in the port, the way the sun reflected on the water, and the emptiness compared to the rest of France made me somewhat happy. The first stop of the day was the Picasso Museum. Two things to know about being in France: you should not wear black, and you should bring a water bottle.  I feel if it were a bit cooler and if I were a bit more hydrated, I would have really enjoyed the exhibit. Funnily enough, during our time in the museum, I ran into my dermatologist and my mother’s dear friend. I had no idea I would see them in Antibes, and it made me so happy! After the museum, my group went to the farmers market and looked around. The produce in France is genuinely so beautiful and delicious. I like the mindset of cooking fresh daily, and this reinforced that French aspect of food. Soon after that, the girls wanted to go shopping for jewelry. Since I was in Europe a few days before the program, I was not allowed to purchase anything. As my friends kept finding more trinkets, more people from our program found us. Before lunch, there were probably 11 of us. We decided to sit somewhere and get something to drink. Since I had not had much to eat, I was going for water and lemonade. We, of course, celebrated Carson’s birthday and got a chocolate mousse! Now, we have migrated to lunch. The restaurant was very nice and cute. I, of course, got a margarita pizza and ate the entire thing. Later on, we were on the way to Nice. Personally, I am not the biggest fan of Nice. I went there before, and never understood the hype. Another regret I had on the trip was not listening to myself. I knew I should have stayed in Nice (and not returned to Cannes early), but I did not trust my gut. I have disappointed myself so many times with this group. I am so ashamed of how I acted, and I still feel disappointed in myself. I hate being late, and I was late. I hate following people around, and of course, I did that. I then took the train back from Nice with “my” group. After we got to Cannes, I went to the store, drank so much water, and passed out for five hours. After I woke up, I went to one of my favorite restaurants in the entire world, Luiggi Piano Bar. I went there with my mother a few years ago, and I've always loved the place.
